SocioEconomic Challenges: Public Policy in the Age of Artificial Intelligence

The artificial intelligence/data revolution will affect our lives in ways unrivaled by previous revolutions. While it will substantially raise our standards of living and improve our health, almost every labor market will be disrupted, leading to widespread concerns about the future of labor. Large platforms and authoritarian governments will use artificial intelligence to strengthen their dominance on the economic and political spheres. Solutions will have to be designed to address the privacy issue, and new frameworks for competition and fiscal policies will emerge. This lecture discusses the future mindset required to address these socio-economic challenges and to ensure that the new technology promotes the common good.
