Science Diplomacy in the Middle East: Challenges and Opportunities

With all eyes on the Middle East, global leaders have recognized that science diplomacy is an extremely important mechanism for working toward stability in the region. This talk introduces the Malta Conferences Foundation’s “Frontiers of Science: Innovation, Research, and Education in the Middle East” series which brings together representatives from 15 Middle East countries, Morocco, and Pakistan to identify unique opportunities for cross-border collaboration on scientific and technological challenges of the region, like water scarcity and environmental degradation. Since 2003, nine conferences have been held with the tenth planned for December 2021.
